Predispositional influence on the interpretation of meeting conflict interaction

Sat, November 14, 10:00 to 11:30am, Hilton Chicago, Floor: Second Floor, Normandie Lounge

Abstract

Social interaction is influenced by many pre-interaction variables. Social cognition studies have analyzed how such influences affect subsequent interaction. Despite these studies, an approach analyzing how a predisposition towards a specific social event influences behavior has not been articulated nor investigated; specifically, this project analyzed how an individual’s predisposition towards a social event influences interpretations of group interaction. Results suggest that predispositional influence affects perceptions of group satisfaction, but not group appropriateness and effectiveness.
