The use of portable electronic devices raises questions about the effect on social interaction. A study was conducted at a large east coast university to determine the relationship between use of electronic devices and an individuals degree of social interaction. Our findings indicate non-verbal indicators were more useful in determining an individuals degree of social interaction and that individuals using a device exhibit a lower level of social interaction than those not using a device.
