Behavior modification models and methods are built on theories like self-efficacy, social construction, and multiple levels of learning. By building on the existing body of knowledge, basic communication and problem solving skills can be taught. The idea is to prepare students to understand their feelings and emotions before they become a problem. Skills include: emotional management, perspective taking, behavior management, active listening, moral reasoning, and self-control.
