Honey, I Love You…But Can You Guess Why? Adapting Nonverbal Communication to Message Context

Abstract

"Honey I love you...but can you guess why" is a 30-minute activity which allows students to think about how rate, pitch, volume, eye contact and body language alter the meaning of the words they speak. As the audience guesses the speaker’s motives, they also learn constructive criticism skills. These skills can be transferred to student presentations and evaluations later in the course.
