Abstract

“When you used to tell me that you chase tornadoes, deep down, I thought it was just a metaphor.” – Twister

When I watched Twister in 1996, I became fanatical about storm chasing. But by summer’s end, I decided its capriciousness was ill fitting. Now, as I reflect on my first year in graduate school and look ahead to the horizon, I see an exhilarating yet ominous haze ahead. And, I willingly go into the tempest.
