Contracting as Collaborative Design: Developing a Constitutive View of Supply Chain Interaction

Abstract

This paper conceptualizes a constitutive view of contracting in supply
chains. It takes the reported “communication problems” of the Director
of Purchasing at a large public university as a point of departure for
further conceptualization and analysis. The problems consist of
repeated breakdowns in processes directly or indirectly involving the
purchasing contract.
