One less or clueless: An exploration of factors that predict cervical cancer intervention in young women

Thu, November 12, 9:30 to 10:45am, Hilton Chicago, Floor: Fourth Floor, Meeting Room 4G

Abstract

Millions of Americans become infected with Human Papillomavirus. The cervical cancer vaccine has made it one of the most preventable cancers. However, young women do not get vaccination. This study identifies the barriers to the adoption of vaccine (such as monetary constraints, religious beliefs, cultural norms, stigma) and suggests recommendations to overcome them (including it as a part of a routine vaccination program, encouraging dialogue between mothers and daughters, improving sex education in schools).
