The Significance of Time Allocation in the Physician-Patient Relationship

Abstract

Doctors claim they are working more and earning less. For doctors to compensate for lower reimbursements they must examine more patients per day; therefore, the amount of time they spend with each patient decreases. The doctors believe that the decreased amount of time spent with patients diminishes the physician/patient relationship. This study examined the relationship of physician-patient time and the patients perceived satisfaction with the medical encounter.
