This study is examines sex differences in physiciansÂ’ patient-centered communication (PCC) with male patients. Videotaped medical encounters (N = 86) were coded for components of PCC. The study found that although male providers engaged in more patient responses, male patients tended to ask more questions and use more assertive responses with female providers than with male providers.
