Sat, November 14, 9:30 to 10:45am, Hilton Chicago, Floor: Third Floor, PDR 4

Abstract

The stem cell research fraud scandal has been at the heart of a growing debate in Korea for several months in 2005. In order to examine the crisis surrounding Hwang’s stem cell research scandal, this study applied the combination of staged approaches and Benoit’s image restoration theory. The way Hwang and stakeholders chose to manage aspects of this scientific misconduct can be summarized as adoption of denial strategies and late response to resolution.
