HIV/AIDS is a global public health scourge with 33.2 million people living with HIV worldwide (UNAIDS, 2007). Numerous campaigns have been launched to halt the spread of HIV/AIDS and provide for prevention, treatment and management. This manuscript interrogates one such campaign called Avahan (call to action) through the culture centered approach and examines its objectives, the taken-for-granted assumptions and values informing the Avahan campaign targeting the long distance truckers (truck drivers and helpers) in India.
