Communicating Initial Interest and Attraction: Quasi Courtship versus Courtship Behaviors

Sun, November 15, 11:00am to 12:15pm, Hilton Chicago, Floor: Third Floor, Marquette Room

Abstract

Engaging in mate selecting behaviors is panhuman and a necessity for the survival of the species. Nonverbal exaggerations that solicit interest and convey attraction are found during courtship initiation. This study fleshes out the subtle differences between courtship and quasi courtship. A round robin method based on the concept of speed dating elicited multiple dyadic interactional data for both single participants and participants in a dating couple.
