Distanciation and Organizational Communication

Abstract

The concept of distanciation has been prominent in theories about the social construction of time and space in organizational contexts. We argue for a synthesis of hermeneutic and structurational ideas of distanciation, and apply it to studies of organizational policy, resistance, and organizational knowledge.
