Stability and Change in Instructional Communication Research: Have We Responded to Sprague’s 'Unasked Questions'?

Sat, November 14, 12:30 to 1:45pm, Hilton Chicago, Floor: Fifth Floor, Meeting Room 5E

Session Submission Type: Panel Discussion

Abstract

17 years ago, Jo Sprague called for a new direction in instructional communication (“Expanding the Research Agenda for Instructional Communication: Raising Some Unasked Questions”). She argued that other disciplines are asking fundamental questions about education that belong within Communication Studies, and outlined an agenda for investigating those questions. In this discussion panel, participants discuss the ways instructional communication research has or has not responded to Sprague’s call, and where the area experiences stability and change.
