Session Submission Type: Panel Discussion
This roundtable discussion explores language use (or misuse) in identifying non-heterosexual genders and identities. Is there a correct way to identify specific sexualities or genders in communicative writings or practices? Can words or labels ever truly capture diverse sexualities or genders? Does language choice even matter? This roundtable of activists, scholars, journal editors, journalists, and public relations practitioners will dialogue with the audience to explore identification practices as they intersect with gender and sexuality.
