Session Submission Type: Panel Discussion
Conservatives in the National Communication Association claim they confront discriminatory majoritarianism and ideological diversity issues in the adjudication of practices and policies relating to publication, convention participation, hiring, promotion and tenure. This panel examines the manifestations of the alleged discrimination and its violations of freedom of speech and academic freedom, violations that are antithetical to the ostensible values of the academy. The panel also discusses possible solutions to the ideological intolerance and inequity which may suffuse our field.
