This paper examines the innovative use of the term the fallen for peace-building efforts. Traditional and conventional uses of the fallen tend to glorify war while concealing the material reality of warfare. This essay looks specifically at the use of the fallen by two organizations, Remembering the Fallen and Families of the Fallen for Change, and examines how the term is for anti-war activism and the creation of peace-building frameworks.
