One Can Build A Bridge: One Person Shows as Cites of Intersection Between Auto/Ethnographic Content and Academic/Commercial Audiences

Abstract

This performance hour consists of excerpts from five one person shows that have been written and performed by performer-scholars using autoethnographic and ethnographic content but have played to audiences in commercial as well as academic audiences. The One Person show has served as a cite for exploration of performance concerns such as embodiment, language, space and (re-presentation). These performances explore the strategies that performer scholars of the coming generation are using to build connections with audience.
