The African continent, home to over 1 billion people and rich in human and natural resources, aspires to global influence. However, the current pedagogies surrounding the history, people, and cultures of Africa do not reflect this changing trend. Biases and misconceptions have historically hindered a comprehensive and unbiased understanding of African societies and the continent. Amid these factors, technological advancements present both opportunities and challenges that require fresh perspectives. This exploration aims to challenge long-held misconceptions in African studies and examine how the technological revolution can shape the future of this field. By considering the obstacles and possibilities, we can utilize these trends and changes as tools in the classroom to challenge the traditional curriculum. This raises the question of what innovative teaching methods can be envisioned. While acknowledging the digital divide in Africa, this examination demonstrates that the digital revolution can enable educators to create exciting and inventive approaches to teaching and learning in this field, such as using AI.
