This presentation will be part of my research on the ways in which African American and Aboriginal Australian liberation movements were connected throughout the 20th Century. In this particular presentation, I will focus on the efforts of both groups to have Black history included in curricula, especially in higher education. I will connect this to the conference theme of celebrating Pan-Africanism in the 21st century to discuss why it was important in the 20th century, and continues to be important in the 21st century, to provide education that examines Black history throughout the Global South. While African American studies is being removed from schools, it is important to examine what past activists did to ensure Black history would not continue to be erased.
