The 2020 BLM protests sent ripples of change throughout the world as millions of people took to the streets to fight against institutional racism. During these protests, public landmarks came under scrutiny for their role in honoring white supremacy and slavery like confederate monuments in the United States and statues of slave traders in the United Kingdom. This project explores how public spaces have transformed to be more inclusive of Black experiences in the United Kingdom and why this work is important towards challenging how the history of the African Diaspora has been depicted in the past.
