Application of the IRT Residual DIF Framework to Ordinally Scored Polytomous Items

Abstract

This study extends the IRT residual DIF detection framework (RDIF) for ordinally scored polytomous items. Preliminary simulation results indicate that the RDIF framework offers effective control of Type I error and sufficient power compared to other methods, making it a practical tool for evaluating DIF in polytomously scored items.
