One for All? Dealing with Group Claims in Constitutional Structures

Abstract

This paper will examine the constitutional arrangements by which multicultural societies recognize and process group claims. I look specifically at cases that have been successful and those that have been less successful to see if there are structural features that characterize each case. How have the groups been defined, how has representation been arranged, how is conflict among groups resolved. If that conflict has not been resolved, has the system been able to persist or has it fallen apart, and what was the nature of the breakup?
