While there is a substantial literature that has established that men and women use public transportation differently, there is a notable gap in understanding the gender dynamics within the political frameworks guiding local policies, especially in the Global South. This study addresses this gap by analyzing comparative data from cities across Latin America. It aims to uncover correlations between women's representation in decision-making bodies and key mobility concerns such as safety, sustainable transit options, and pedestrian safety.
