Abstract

The Spanish Civil War marked a defeat for the decades-long effort at finding a shared sense of national identity for Spain after the Spanish-American War. This essay examines María Zambrano's attempt at finding a sense of national identity post-civil war with her concept of "poetic reason" found in her literature.
