This paper will examine the topic of youth development in education in the Dominican Republic. I aim to assess factors that play a large role in the influence of this topic such as economic, social, and cultural perspectives to better understand the education system of the Caribbean Island and examine the possible benefits and drawbacks they may have. Moreover, it will help to see how these factors impact growth and future youth development. Along with a literature review, the paper will also incorporate insights from my experience participating in a service-learning project teaching elementary students grades one through four in the Dominican Republic. These findings will facilitate a more complex understanding of a country with abundant potential as it continues to evolve and confront challenges in the shaping of its future for the youth.
