Abstract

Today universities exercise more authority over LGBTQI2 cultural heritage resources than do community groups. How can university-based archives can sustain a connection to the communities from which their collections emerge? How can they promote the collectivist, open-access values upon which community-based archives were built? With digital tools.

By enabling users to contribute and tag archival materials, alotarchives.org demonstrates how archives can bridge the gap between themselves and diverse users.
