Teaching Women's and Gender Studies in Trying Times

Abstract

We propose the poster serve as a starting point for an interdisciplinary conversation about how Women’s and Gender Studies courses can encourage feminist, anti-racist research and action in an emerging political atmosphere of xenophobia, racism, and misogyny. Renewed challenges to academic freedom, the prevalence of fake news, and personal safety are a few of the concerns to be faced, but the these are issues to be negotiated in order to create a learning and research environment where they can be addressed.
