MeToo? Unknown, Unknowns Hindering Consent

Thu, Nov 14, 1:00 to 2:15pm, Hilton Union Square, Floor: Tower 3, 4th Floor, Union Square 03

Abstract

Consent presumes informed and capable decisions, and when vital information is missing, the full ability to consent is taken away. When sexual satisfaction is not a primary benefit of sexual behavior, such as for a number of asexual people, the types of information that are considered vital may fall outside of taught and expected consent scripts. For example, the general lack of awareness of asexuality as a valid orientation can lead asexual people to consent where they otherwise would not have, which us a hermeneutical injustice.
