Wily Workarounds: GWSS Successes in a Hostile Climate

Session Submission Type: Roundtable

Abstract

The Wily Workarounds workshop invites participants to listen to and share stories of success navigating a range of bureaucratic, political, and resource-based obstacles in Gender, Women and Sexuality programs and departments. As higher education faces funding cuts, and social-justice programs endure political attacks and smear campaigns, let’s pool our knowledge and skills to best face future challenges. During the Wily Workarounds workshop, leaders in two different GWSS programs discuss real-life examples of successfully negotiating institutional and political barriers and invite participants to do the same.
