Our working group is centered around the work of elementary mathematics teacher educators (eMTEs) who teach, or prepare/mentor those who teach, elementary content courses. We aim to conceptualize this work by focusing on: course content and pedagogy, including the learning opportunities provided for elementary (PreK-8) teachers; the educational/teaching experiences, actions, purposes, preparation, and support of eMTEs; and mathematical knowledge for teaching teachers. Our vision is to recruit researchers and practitioners to collaboratively develop instructional resources for eMTEs, including writing a handbook with research-based strategies and recommendations for teaching content courses and creating/maintaining an online repository of practitioner resources for eMTEs.
