The majority of research on technology in mathematics education has focused on how the technology is being used in mathematics classrooms, very few studies have focused on how teachers decide to incorporate technology into their mathematics instruction. This study investigated the decision-making process of 20 experienced technology-using secondary teachers. Using Kopcha et al.’s (2020) framework, our findings highlighted that the teachers’ decisions on when to incorporate technology were driven by their values of high-quality mathematics instruction, their perceptions of what technology makes possible mathematically and in the dynamics of the classroom.
