Considering Mathematics Education Research Practice Partnerships as Social Learning Spaces

Mon, October 27, 8:00 to 9:15am, Penn Stater Conference Center, Floor: Main Level, 106

Description

In this session, we explore the role of research-practice partnerships (RPPs) in mobilizing research-based knowledge to foster systemic change in education, specifically through the lens of value creation in social learning spaces (Wenger-Trayner & Wenger-Trayner, 2020). We characterize our nine-year statewide RPP as a social learning space and use the value creation framework to analyze how collaborative efforts generated and translated different types of value within and beyond the partnership. We argue that the framework is a promising tool for understanding how RPPs contribute to systemic change in education systems.
