Books of Turkish and Arab Origin in Early Sixteenth-Century Venice

Abstract

Favoured by its pivotal role in the Mediterranean, early XVI century Venice had developed strong ties with Turkish and Arab cultures. The present study examines the oriental items of contemporaneous collections and libraries with the aims of setting their presence in a wider Mediterranean frame and describing the milieux of reception.
