La Lozana andaluza is the work of Francisco Delgado or Delicado, as he later became known in Italy, a Spanish priest of Jewish ancestors, a book editor and the author of two books on syphilis. This paper will explore the idea of traveling and the many reasons that brought Delicado to Venice where, after leaving Rome and the devastation of the Sac of Rome, he found- together with his character Lozana, the lusty Andalusian woman- the city where to publish and settle down.
