Abstract

The scope of this paper is to present the first results of the project “MuMoSiSt: Multidisciplinary approach of multilayer monumental sites studies: the case of the Quirinal Hill in Rome”. The project aims to discover a new methodological approach thanks to the implementation of a specific digital platform for the management and consulting of the outcomes provided from different types of sources. The case study presented is the area of the ancient Temple of Serapis and its complex stratigraphy during the sixteenth and seventeenth century. In particular, the properties of the Colonna family surrounding and including the sixteenth-seventeenth century building (and remodelling) of palazzo dell'Olmo and the previously existing Loggia dei Colonnesi. The focus is the analysis of the building techniques and reuse of ancient remains by means of a “cross comparison” between archival and iconographic sources, also from the preceding and subsequent periods.
