Session Type: Paper Session
This symposium investigates the development of prosocial behaviors from infancy to adolescence. The first paper investigates children's sharing with in-group and out-group members. The second paper examines whether children attend to the value of the objects when sharing resources. The findings document that although young children tend to share evenly, they show favoritism according to value. The third paper highlights how, with age, children increasingly recognize social inequalities and give more to disadvantaged groups. The fourth paper investigates coherence, stability, and moderators of prosocial behavior growth trajectories from infancy to adolescence. Taken together, the papers shed new light on moderators of prosocial behavior and its development from childhood to adolescence.
