Session Type: Paper Session

Integrative Statement

This symposium collectively sheds new light on community-level exposure to stressors and supports among Latino and Latin American youth. Paper 1 examines potential parenting-by-neighborhood interactions in community influences on Mexican-origin adolescents' ethnic identity development. Paper 2 examines the relative importance of neighborhood, family, and friend support for diverse Latino adolescents' mental health. Paper 3 investigates how adolescents and younger children experience, emotionally respond to, and cope with community violence exposure in Colombia. Finally, Paper 4 elucidates the roles of community civic engagement and campus social support in the identities of undocumented Latino young adults.
