Session Type: Paper Session
Adolescence is a key time for the emergence of a range of externalizing problems, including substance use and antisocial behavior. The papers in this symposium will explore the contribution of genetic variation to risk for these outcomes using a range of genetic techniques , including twin, candidate gene, and gene by environment approaches, and well as the genetic influence on treatment response. The findings presented help to clarify the role of genetic liability, especially how genetic vulnerability interacts with other factors, and point towards models of early intervention for those at high risk.
