Integrative Statement

Biography:
Gustavo Carlo is the Millsap Endowed Professor of Diversity and Multicultural Studies in the Department of Human Development and Family Science at the University of Missouri. He obtained his Ph.D. from Arizona State University in 1994. His main research interest is in prosocial and moral behaviors in children and adolescents, particularly focused on the personality, parenting, and sociocultural correlates across childhood and in young adulthood. He has published widely (nearly 200 articles) in many varied prestigious journals. He has also published several books including Moral Development through the Life Span, Rural Ethnic Minority Youth and Families in the United States, Handbook of U.S. Latino Psychology, and Prosocial Behaviors: A Multidimensional Approach. He serves on several editorial boards, and has served on NIH and NSF grant review panels. His research has been supported by grants from NIH and NSF, he is a Fellow of the APA, APS and the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Board (ASPPB), was awarded the Outstanding Senior Mentor Award from SRA, and received a Research Excellence Award in Positive Psychology from the APA and the John Templeton Foundation in 2001.
