In this presentation, we will introduce the Young Scientists mentoring program at the Institute of Child Development (ICD), which pairs ICD developmental psychology PhD students, post-doctoral fellows, and professors with groups of middle and high school students with the goal of supporting youth and teens in creating their own research projects in developmental science. We will discuss the origins and mission of this program, the in-person and online curricula and the plans for future. We will also introduce the 5 presentations from high school students in Minnesota and Oregon, as well as the graduate student mentors and senior SRCD PIs who supported them.
