Session Type: Paper Symposium
Child development has been conceptualized in a dialectic perspective, evolving the interrelation of individual and context (Sameroff, 2010). Evaluating child development is essential to early detect delays and promote interventions to prevent behavioral problems that could be costly to society. Considering the influence of the context in child development, it is crucial that the instruments, when used in different cultures from where they were developed, have a rigorous adaptation or, even better, being developed with cultural characteristics from where it will be used. In Brazil, there is a lack of instruments to detect developmental delays. This symposium will present tools developed by Grupo de Estudo, Aplicação e Pesquisa em Avaliação Psicológica (GEAPAP) [Research group on applied psychological assessment]: Inventário Dimensional de Desenvolvimento Infantil (IDADI) [Dimensional Inventory for Child Development Assessment], its short form as well as its direct assessment, and Escala de Funcionamento Adaptativo EFA [Adaptive Functioning Scale].
Validation of the short version of the Dimensional Inventory for Child Development Assessment - Presenting Author: Euclides Jose de Mendonça Filho, McGill University
Direct assessment of children: construction of a new instrument from the Dimensional Inventory for Child Development Assessment - Presenting Author: Monia Aparecida Silva, Universidade Federal de São João del-Rei
Development and Evidence of Validity and Reliability of the Adaptive Functioning Scale in Brazil - Presenting Author: Thais Selau, Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)
