Towards preventing child maltreatment at scale

Abstract
Parenting programs are one of seven evidence-supported strategies included in the INSPIRE strategy for preventing violence against children at scale. The Parenting for Lifelong Health for Young Children program was developed and tested in South Africa, and has subsequently been adapted for use in very different contexts. The original program was twelve sessions long and tested in the routine conditions prevailing in South Africa (delivery by a non-governmental organization). This symposium presents work on its adaptation:
1. For delivery in a conditional cash transfer system in the Philippines;
2. For delivery in the public health system in Thailand;
3. To identify the most effective, cost-effective and scalable version for delivery in the Republic of Moldova, North Macedonia and Romania.
A final paper will describe the methods of the SUPER (Scale-Up of Parenting Evaluation Research), which aims to explore implementation, adaptation and effectiveness in routine settings at scale; and present initial results of SUPER from South Sudan and Montenegro
