Parenting, family and moral development

Abstract
Children's family provides an early context for their moral development. This set of flash talks deals with the role of family, and specifically parenting, as it relates to diverse aspects of moral development. Papers focus on parents’ own behavior, for example socialization in the context of lie telling across cultures, and fairness and inequality in household labor division between parents. In addition, papers relate between parents’ behavior and children’s moral development: how parental stress and psychopathology relate to children’s empathy and behavioral problems, and how parental discipline practices and attitudes relate to prosocial behavior across ages and across cultures.
