Health promotion interventions involving children and adolescents: what works, for whom, and under which circumstances ?

Abstract
Through presenting a variety of different programs, this session will highlight how school and community interventions can be relevant to change problems related to environmental risks, to prevent tobacco and health risks behaviors, to reduce bullying and victimization and to promote socio-emotional skills. All these papers share a focus on children and adolescents as active participants and a rigorous methodology. Specific attention has been devoted to meta-analyses, to evaluation of implementation and feasibility characteristics and to cultural adaptation of the programs presented. Overall the session provides several examples of evidence based interventions and of how a rigorous approach may improve our decisions as researchers or policy decision makers.
