Dr. Ann Rivera of the Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE) at the Administration for Children and Families (ACF; HHS) will present information on the grants and contracts representing investments in research on child care, early education, and healthy child and family development. OPRE studies federally funded programs and the populations they serve through rigorous research and evaluation projects, with a focus on increasing the effectiveness of federal programs designed to improve the economic and social well-being of children and families with low incomes. OPRE works closely with the federal offices administering the programs to design research that is responsive to their policy priorities and questions. OPRE also partners with the research community to study and enhance understanding of child development, family processes, program service implementation and quality, program staff professional development, and child and family well-being. The presentation will focus on current investments in research related to: (1) the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF), administered by ACF’s Office of Child Care; (2) the Head Start/Early Head Start program (HS/EHS), administered by ACF’s Office of Head Start; (3) the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting program (MIECHV), administered by the Health and Resources Services Administration (HRSA) in collaboration with ACF; and (4) the Healthy Marriage and Responsible Fatherhood program (HMRF) administered by ACF’s Office of Family Assistance.
