Session Type: Paper Symposium
Child development has been conceptualized in a dialectic perspective, evolving the interrelation of individual and context (Sameroff, 2010). Evaluating child development is essential to detect delays early and promote interventions to prevent behavioral problems that could be costly to society. Considering the influence of the context in child development, it is crucial that the instruments, when used in different cultures from where they were developed, have a rigorous adaptation or, even better, be developed with cultural characteristics from where they will be used. In Brazil, there is a lack of instruments to detect developmental delays. This symposium will present different tools developed in Brazil or adapted to Brazilian Portuguese.
