Factors Affecting Reasoning and Problem Solving in Children

Abstract
This session focuses on specific individual difference variables that affect the development of reasoning and problem-solving. Papers examine roles of persistence, understanding of causality, theory of mind, intelligence, language, and self-regulation, such as the ability to voluntarily abstain from considering a problem (i.e., choosing voluntary incubation periods), in children's reasoning and problem-solving behaviors.
