Session Type: Flash Talk Session
Programs supporting parents to manage their stress and improve parenting skills continue to be a powerful source of influence and strength of youth development and family functioning. This Flash Talk session brings together somewhat disparate work in the area of parenting in the United States and abroad. The first study examines the existing literature on supporting parents that have children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The second study focuses in more on executive functioning skills as a result of a parenting intervention. The last two studies examine the implementation and outcomes of three different U.S. interventions in Brazil and Ecuador. The studies in this session provide a look at a wide breadth of outcomes in differing contexts, from literacy to risk behavior to family relationships to physiological measures.
