Session Type: Flash Talk Session
Becoming a mother is one of life's major transitions, with opportunities for growth and change while also experiencing stress and challenges. This Flash Talk session brings together cutting edge research to better understand mothers' engagement in home visiting programs or small group sessions, and their outcomes. The first paper examines predictors of engagement in home visiting programs and finds some important characteristics surface from their own childhood. The second paper examines predictors and outcomes of a small group five session program for mom's that experience intimate partner violence during pregnancy. The third paper compares engagement and outcomes of three publicly funded home visiting programs to update and extend our understanding of program effects on child maltreatment.
